Two quantities. One connected stock workflow.

  1. 01

    Purchase

Buy in kilograms and record the cartons received.

  2. 02

    Inventory

Maintain visibility of carton quantities and their actual weight.

  3. 03

    Sales

Apply kilogram-based pricing using the relevant weight.

  4. 04

    Dispatch

Issue cartons while retaining their corresponding kilogram quantity.

The conversion varies with actual weight; it is not a single fixed carton-to-kilogram ratio.

01

The business challenge

For The Chickery, counting chicken stock in cartons was only part of the picture. Each carton could have a different weight, while purchases and sales prices were expressed in kilograms.

The business needed both quantities to remain visible and connected throughout its transactions. A fixed conversion between cartons and kilograms could not represent that requirement accurately.

Its previous SAP Business One setup did not adequately support this workflow, leaving gaps in stock visibility and inventory control.

02

The ERPNext solution

Paavan Infotech implemented ERPNext with customizations for variable dual-unit inventory handling. The solution maintains the relationship between carton quantities and their corresponding weight across transactions.

This supports the way the business purchases and prices products in kilograms while moving physical stock in cartons, rather than relying on a single standard weight per carton.

03

Implementation scope

The implementation covered Accounting, Fixed Assets, Stock, Sales and Purchase, alongside the custom dual-unit functionality needed for inventory transactions.

04

The outcome

The Chickery successfully moved from SAP Business One to ERPNext and could manage its stock in both units with clear visibility.

The customized workflow supports correct stock handling and more accurate inventory control while preserving the connection between physical carton quantities and kilogram-based purchasing and sales.
